NHS Performance

From operational challenge to system-level assurance

MBI Health was founded in 2012 inside the reality of NHS operations. Our founders came from frontline delivery, EPR programmes, and performance management, where the gap between reported data and operational truth was already clear.

From the beginning, the focus was simple: help organisations understand what is really happening across their patient pathways, and act on it with confidence.

 

Building capability that reflects how the NHS operates

As the NHS has evolved, so have the challenges. Fragmented waiting lists, inconsistent data, and increasing operational pressure mean that traditional advisory alone is not enough.

MBI has grown to combine advisory, managed operations, and technology into a single, integrated model. This allows us not just to diagnose problems, but to resolve them and embed sustainable change.

Our approach reflects the reality that hospitals are managing multiple, overlapping waiting lists and data flows, not a single version of the truth.

 

Creating a new standard for data assurance 

In 2019, we launched LUNA°, built directly from our experience of validating and managing patient pathways at scale. It created a new foundation for understanding waiting lists as a complete population, not disconnected reports.

As the challenge of unstructured clinical data became more visible, we developed ROVA°, extending LUNA° to read and interpret clinical documents and automate the most resource-intensive parts of validation.

Together, they enable NHS teams to move from reactive validation to continuous assurance, improving productivity, safety, and decision-making

 

Scaling impact across the NHS

Since 2022, as part of the DNV group, MBI Health has expanded its reach while maintaining its NHS focus, combining deep operational expertise with global assurance capability.

Today, we have supported more than 90 NHS organisations and our LUNA° platform assures over 130 million NHS patient pathways every week. Our work spans local delivery, system-wide transformation, and national infrastructure.

We are also the supplier of LUNA° National, providing a consistent, daily view of waiting list data quality across England.
